Bill Gigray Presents at the Idaho Association of Highway Districts

On November 13th, 2014, municipal law attorney, Bill Gigray, presented at the Idaho Association of Highway Districts in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Bill presented insightful information to Highway District Commissioners, Highway District Secretaries and Highway Staff Professionals entitled How to Handle Encroachments.

Bill covered the following topics during his presentation: types and proof of right-of-way ownership, identification and location of encroachments, process and alternatives to abatement and elimination of encroachments, and a lively question and answer session.

Bill serves as one of the managing directors in the firm in addition to his role as the primary attorney for Golden Gate Highway District No. 3, Canyon Highway District No. 4 and Homedale Highway District. Bill also serves as the lead attorney for a number of fire districts, cities, school districts, recreational water and sewer districts, cemetery districts and irrigation districts represented by White Peterson. Bill also serves on the Supreme Court Civil Rules Committee.

Matt Johnson Presents at the Idaho School Board’s Annual Convention

On November 12th, 2014, municipal law attorney, Matt Johnson, presented at the Idaho School Board’s Annual Convention in Boise, Idaho. Matt presented valuable information to Board members, District Clerks and Education Professionals entitled Records Policies – Custody, Classification, and Maintenance of Records.

Matt’s presentation focused on the elements of school district records policies. Matt discussed Idaho Public Records law and federal laws (FERPA-Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) that impact records policies. Additionally, Matt directed his audience to the purposes and goals of records policy and the power authorizing school districts to adopt records policy. Matt then focused on policy guidelines, suggestions and ideas concerning public records requests and the classification, custody and maintenance (including proper destruction) of records.

Matt serves as the primary city attorney for the City of Melba and the City of Cascade, and also assists with legal counseling for cities, school districts, fire districts and irrigation districts represented by White Peterson. Matt is knowledgeable in matters relating to zoning and land use, water law, and environmental issues.

Bill Punkoney Gives Presentation at the Idaho State Fire Commissioners’ Association Meeting

On November 7th, 2014, municipal law attorney, Bill Punkoney, presented at the Idaho State Fire Commissioners’ Association in Pocatello, Idaho. Bill presented valuable information to Board Commissioners, Fire District Secretaries and Fire Staff Professionals entitled Proactive Policy and Legal Solutions for Idaho Fire Districts.

Bill’s presentation covered the following topics: fire district policy code models, budget management and preparation, property acquisition and surplus, social media and internet use by first responders, acquisition and provision of new services and regulation of the sale and public display of fireworks.

Bill serves as the primary attorney for the Nampa Fire Protection District and also assists with legal counseling for cities, school districts, fire districts and irrigation districts represented by White Peterson. Bill is particularly knowledgeable in matters relating to public policy and administrative law, having served in the Governor’s office prior to his arrival to White Peterson and is fluent in Spanish.
